James R. Schenck

James is President and Chief Executive of the Pentagon Federal Credit Union.  PenFed is an $18.0 billion dollar financial institution that serves the worldwide financial needs of over 1.2 million Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security personnel.  As part of PenFed's executive team since 2001, he led most of the operating divisions.  He led PenFed's Real Estate, Title and Secondary Mortgage Operations, served as President of the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation and concurrently, Executive Vice President, Credit and Collections at PenFed.  Previously, James served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer where he oversaw its branch, call center and mortgage operations.  Prior to that, James was PenFed's Chief Administrative Officer (2001-2006) responsible for the institution's E-commerce, Marketing, Credit Card, Items Processing, Human Resource, Facility, and Security activities.

Prior to joining Pentagon Federal Credit Union, James served in the U.S. Army.  James began his military career upon graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served as an aviation officer flying UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopters.  He subsequently earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and taught Economics and Corporate Finance at West Point.  He then served on the Army Staff in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans overseeing the Army's OPTEMPO budget.  He is a former member of the West Point Federal Credit Union and Pentagon Federal Credit Union Board of Directors.  Additionally, he was a former term member on the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, DC.
